Wings Perfumes

Product Information
Wings
The first thing you smell when you put this on is rose, citrus and peaches or apricots. The fragrance changes over time and mellows from rose to carnation, from citrus to citrus blossom and from fruit to spice - cardamom and pepper (think Pfeffernuesse - German Christmas cookies).

do know that both Kathryn and I loved the combination of flowers and spices in this perfume. It has a passionate and sensual aroma. It is totally feminine without making one feel as though one is drowning in florals.

I have a very good friend who is Wiccan. I do not pretend to speak for Wiccans about what Wicca is. I can only provide my outsider's understanding. My best definition of it is that Wicca is a religion based on European spiritual traditions and practices that predate the introduction of Christianity to the continent combined with modern sensibilities about things such as social justice and preservation of the environment. Among their teachings is the idea of doing no harm to the world, to others or to self. One of the traditional holidays for Wiccans comes at the Winter Solstice. Uncertain of what to do to help my friend celebrate, I decided to go ahead and give her a gift. Even if it is not the traditional time among Wiccans to give and receive gifts, it's the thought that counts and I knew my friend would appreciate it.

So what do you get for a self-proclaimed witch? I decided to go the perfume route. (I liked the idea of getting her some sort of potion.) I looked all over the perfume section at Macy's until I found what had to be the perfect choice - Spellbound by Wings perfume. I don't know about capturing the magic of falling in love.

On Kathryn, the floral seems to be stronger with the cardamom as background. On me, the scent seems reversed with the spice more pronounced. Since when I've used this, I've been at her house to try it, there is no difference between the perfumes we're using. The lasting background aromas here are sandalwood (a favorite of mine), vanilla, vetiver and amber. It's a day later and the sandalwood and vetiver are still on my skin. Wings perfume is pricy. A 1.7 ounce bottle costs about $43. A 3.4 ounce bottle should run about $60. It is fairly strong and a little should go a long way. The biggest downfall for me of this perfume is its packaging. If you're looking for a pretty or unusual bottle, this isn't it. It's a fairly plain bottle with a gold cap and black stopper. However, if you're interested in a nice aroma and the bottle isn't going to be on display, you should be very happy with Spellbound.
